Healthy - 2 ingredient - Granola Bar Recipe

Friday, November 15, 2019

This recipe has instantly become a household favorite! It is done in a matter of minutes and can be changed up everyday to keep things fun!

Over the years, I have talked a lot about cutting some of the chemicals from our home and in many cases, that includes eliminating prepackaged foods. That also means that there has to be some planning involved because It's not always easy to grab something healthy while on the run!

Now... I hear ya. I do know that I can buy organic granola bars at the store but making them is so much more fun! It also means that I can toss in any nuts, fruits, and PROTEIN powder that I want! It's also cheaper than buying the ready to eat ones and - if you are making a real life change,  eating healthy can't cost you a fortune!

My granola bars have a base of 2 ingredients....THAT'S ALL! From there, switch them up and add to your heart's desire!

The recipe
1️⃣ 3 cups of quick cooking oats
Mixing is a little sloppy but worth it!
2️⃣ 14 ounces is sweetended condensed milk

👩‍🍳 Mix together and place in a greased 9x13 pan. Cook for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

That's seriously it!!

My kids love when I add in organic chocolate chips and coconut! They are pretty big fans of my protein powder too!

Need a chocolate kick? I do have a low carb homemade chocolate recipe on the  HERE that you can drizzle on the top.

I am trying my hand at keto homemade condensed milk next so stay tuned!!
Immediately out of the oven!
They hold together well and pack easily!

DIY Organic Brown Sugar Body Scrub

I recently became an advocate with Beautycounter and I have to admit...I am in LOVE! Not only are the products cruelty free BUT this company actually advocates for cleaner beauty regulations! This was HUGE for me because, up to this point, I would scour the stores looking for safe products to use with very little luck. I would find either super expensive products, a SMALL selection, or products that just didn't work.

I started my family's cleaner journey some time ago. I started with food, moved to cleaning supplies and finally... it was time for the personal care items. One thing I learned along the way was that it can get EXPENSIVE! This girl had to find a way to DIY many things to be able to make it all happen.  Following a cleaner lifestyle has become super important to me. I can go into detail in other posts but for today... let's chat about one of my FAVORITE DIY recipes! Homemade Organic Sugar Lip Scrub.

The simple truth is that your lips are just like the rest of your body... they need attention! Your lips become dry and chapped because they don't produce oil like the rest of your body does. They become damaged and regenerate new cells and sometimes the dead cells are simply there and chilling out. Using chapsticks and moisturizers will give you a smoother appearance BUT they won't make the flakes go away! So, what do you do to the rest of your body when you want to expose the newest, freshest, and healthiest skin - EXFOLIATE!

Getting rid of these pesky flakes on a budget can be easier than you think! It was so eye opening to start looking into the labels on some of my favorite scrub products. On so many labels I would find artificial colors & flavors - I mean.. how hard is it to use real vanilla in your product? I HAD TO DO BETTER!

There are so many variations of this recipe and you really can make a basic lip scrub by blending any sugar and coconut oil. The coconut oil will leave your lips soft, nourished, moisturized and healthy while the sugar helps pull away those dead cells to reveal beautiful-glowing lips!

This really can't be easier.

simply blend the following-
1 tsp. Organic Brown Sugar (or whatever you have on hand)
1 tsp. Organic Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is solid at room temperature so you may want to warm it slightly to get a great blend. One you mix it together, add a little to your lips and gently rub it across your lips - back and forth - very gently. Next step, LICK IT OFF! This stuff is safe, edible, and tastes AMAZING! Okay...if you really way to, you can wash it off but why not go for it?

The coconut oil will leave your lips moisturized and will leave a film on your lips....that will leave your lips so healthy!

Add variations like a hint of organic vanilla, mint essential oils, coffee grounds, whatever your favorite flavor is... use it!

BONUS - this makes a super cute gift and can be used anywhere on your body as a nourishing exfoliating scrub.  Toss it in a sweet glass jar and you have a beautifully crafted gift for anyone.
